Description

Slow Cooker Baked Apples are a warm, spiced, and comforting dessert that’s easy to make with just a few simple ingredients. Perfectly tender apples are filled with a delicious cinnamon-sugar mixture, then slow-cooked to perfection.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 46 medium apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Fuji)
  • ½ cup brown sugar (or maple syrup for a natural sweetener)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon cloves (optional)
  • ¼ cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
  • ¼ cup raisins or dried cranberries (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons butter or coconut oil, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup water, apple cider, or orange juice

Instructions

Prepare the Apples

  • Wash and core the apples, leaving the bottom intact so the filling stays inside.
  • Optionally, peel the apples if you prefer a softer texture.
  • Lightly squeeze lemon juice over the apples to prevent browning.

2️⃣ Make the Filling

  • In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, nuts, and dried fruit.
  • Stir in melted butter and vanilla extract until combined.

3️⃣ Fill the Apples

  • Stuff each apple with the filling, pressing it down gently so it stays inside.

4️⃣ Slow Cook the Apples

  • Pour ½ cup of liquid (water, apple cider, or orange juice) into the slow cooker.
  • Arrange apples in the slow cooker, standing upright.
  • Cover and cook on LOW for 3-4 hours or HIGH for 1.5-2 hours, until apples are tender but not mushy.

5️⃣ Serve & Enjoy

  • Carefully remove the apples and place them on a serving dish.
  • Drizzle with extra maple syrup, caramel, or honey if desired.
  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream, Greek yogurt, or granola.

Notes

✔️ Apple Choices: Use firm apples like Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Fuji for best results.
✔️ Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. Reheat in the microwave or on the stove.
✔️ Freezing: Baked apples can be frozen for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight and warm before serving.
✔️ Sugar-Free Option: Skip the brown sugar and use maple syrup, honey, or stevia as a natural sweetener.
